What is EU-IndiaGrid project ?

Joining European and Indian Grids for e-Science Network Community

The EC-funded EU-IndiaGrid was  building a networked e-Science Community between Europe and India by developing a common Grid infrastructure to support data processing for scientific application areas: Atmospheric and Earth Sciences, Biology, High Energy Physics, and Material Science.

This 2-year Project started on 1 October 2006 with a kick-off meeting (18-20 October 2006,  hosted here at ICTP) and ended 31 January 2009.

After the successful completion of the first phase   a new edition of the project started on the first January 2010 and will end at 31 December 2011.

Activities&Actions performed by ICTP team within EU-IndiaGrid

ICTP is one of the official partner of  the second phase of the project and plays an important role within it. ICTP is responsible of the technical management of the whole project. (Workpackage 1)

Moreover it takes care of coordinating all the training events and contributed in organizing the project workshops (Workpackage 4). In this area ICTP team, in collaboration with joint Democritos/Sissa is enhancing some training tools already introduced in the first phase of the porject. (see next paragraph).

It is also actively involved in porting applications and exploiting the power of the GRID in the Material Science and Earth and atmospheric Science (WorkPackage 4). Some tools were provided to facilitate the use of the GRID by research teams  (see again next paragraph).
 

ICTP Tools/Products available for the EU-IndiaGrid community 

Here below the tools and instruments we setup and currently use within EuindiaGrid:

• Training Tools: GRID Seed
• Applications and utilities: "Reserve SMP nodes" and "Logging Tool"
  
• Finance Research Application

• Milu, a tool to set up easily an UI on (almost) any machine

• BEMuSE: Bias-Exchange Metadynamics Submission Environment
